Day-by-Day Itinerary

D1

Drive Kathmandu β†’ Sundarijal β†’ Chisapani (2,215m)

Drive 45 minutes to Sundarijal on the Kathmandu Valley rim. Enter Shivapuri National Park and trek through the forest past waterfalls and a water treatment plant. Reach the ridge at Chisapani with spectacular views of the Himalayan range β€” Langtang, Ganesh, Gaurishankar, and even Everest on clear days. Trek: 4-5 hrs.

Chisapani β†’ Kutumsang (2,470m)

Walk along the ridge with continuous Himalayan views. Pass through Tamang villages of Pati Bhanjyang and Gulphu Bhanjyang. Arrive at Kutumsang β€” a peaceful settlement surrounded by terraced farms. Trek: 5-6 hrs.

D3

Kutumsang β†’ Tharepati (3,640m)

Climb through dense rhododendron and oak forest. Above the treeline, the views open up dramatically. Reach Tharepati β€” the highest point of the trek β€” at the junction of the Helambu and Gosaikunda trails. Panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Gauri Shankar. Trek: 5-6 hrs.

Tharepati β†’ Melamchi Gaon (2,530m)

Descend through beautiful forest into the Helambu valley. Arrive at Melamchi Gaon β€” a traditional Hyolmo (Sherpa) village with ancient Buddhist monasteries, prayer flags, and mani walls. Experience warm local hospitality and try traditional butter tea and momo. Trek: 4-5 hrs.

D5

Melamchi Gaon β†’ Tarkeghyang (2,590m)

Trek through forest and farmland to Tarkeghyang β€” the largest Hyolmo village in Helambu. Visit the impressive Tarkeghyang Monastery, one of the oldest in the region. The village has been beautifully rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake. Trek: 5-6 hrs.

D6

Tarkeghyang β†’ Sermathang β†’ Melamchi Pul Bazaar β†’ Kathmandu

Walk to Sermathang village, then descend through terraced fields and subtropical forest to Melamchi Pul Bazaar on the highway. Drive back to Kathmandu (3 hrs). Farewell dinner. Trek: 4-5 hrs + Drive: 3 hrs.
