Day-by-Day Itinerary

D1

Arrive Kathmandu (1,400m)

Airport pickup, hotel check-in, pre-trip briefing with your guide. Gear check, permit processing, and welcome dinner.

Drive Kathmandu β†’ Pokhara (820m) β€” 6 hrs or 25 min flight

Scenic drive along the Prithvi Highway following the Trishuli River, or take a quick domestic flight. Arrive in Pokhara β€” the gateway to the Annapurna region. Explore Lakeside and enjoy Phewa Lake views.

Drive to Nayapul, Trek to Ghandruk (1,940m)

Drive 1.5 hrs to Nayapul trailhead. Begin trekking through terraced fields and subtropical forest to Ghandruk β€” a beautiful Gurung village with views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare. Trek: 5-6 hrs.

Ghandruk β†’ Chhomrong (2,170m)

Descend to the Kimrong Khola river and climb steeply to Chhomrong β€” the last major village before entering the Annapurna Sanctuary. Spectacular views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. Trek: 5-6 hrs.

Chhomrong β†’ Bamboo (2,310m)

Descend stone steps to the Chhomrong Khola, then enter the Modi Khola gorge. Trek through dense bamboo and rhododendron forest β€” a habitat for the elusive red panda. Trek: 4-5 hrs.

Bamboo β†’ Deurali (3,230m)

Continue ascending through the narrow gorge. The vegetation changes from bamboo to rhododendron to scrub as you gain altitude. Walk past stunning waterfalls and landslide areas. Trek: 4-5 hrs.

Deurali β†’ Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m)

Enter the Annapurna Sanctuary through a glacial moraine. Stop at Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC, 3,700m) for views of the sacred Fishtail peak. Continue to ABC β€” a vast glacial basin surrounded by a 360Β° wall of 7,000m+ peaks. Sunrise and sunset here are otherworldly. Trek: 5-6 hrs.

ABC β†’ Bamboo (2,310m)

Enjoy the golden sunrise over Annapurna I. Begin the long descent back through MBC, Deurali, and down to Bamboo. The return trek is significantly faster downhill. Trek: 6-7 hrs.

Bamboo β†’ Jhinu Danda (1,780m)

Trek to Jhinu Danda and soak in the famous natural hot springs by the Modi Khola river β€” the perfect reward after days of trekking. Trek: 4-5 hrs.

Jhinu β†’ Nayapul, Drive to Pokhara, Fly/Drive to Kathmandu

Final trek to Nayapul. Drive to Pokhara, then fly or drive back to Kathmandu. Free evening for shopping or relaxation. Farewell dinner. Trek: 3-4 hrs.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek — FAQs

The ABC trek is easier than EBC. It reaches a maximum altitude of 4,130m (vs 5,545m for EBC). The trail is well-marked with good teahouse facilities. Most people with reasonable fitness can complete it.

Spring (March-May) for rhododendron blooms and warm weather. Autumn (September-November) for the clearest mountain views. Both seasons offer stable weather and comfortable temperatures.

Technically yes, but we strongly recommend a guide. The trails can be confusing, weather changes rapidly, and having a local guide enhances your experience with cultural knowledge, safety support, and better lodge arrangements.

Yes! Jhinu Danda has natural hot springs where you can soak your tired legs. It's a popular stop on the return route and the perfect reward after days of trekking.
